Man stabbed for eating last Chicken pieces

A Houston man has been charged in the death of a friend after an argument over the last piece of chicken, police say.

Perez Gonzalez, 34, was one of five men sharing a meal in an apartment, and took the last piece of chicken. That led to a fight that led to Gonzalez being stabbed.

The row escalated into a fist fight which ended up spilling out into the parking lot of the apartment complex, according to police. Rivera then allegedly stabbed Gonzalez before running away from the scene with a knife. Gonzalez died at the scene.

When he returned to the scene of the crime, police say he then admitted to them that he had stabbed Gonzalez.

Rivera was arrested and charged with murder. He is being held in Harris County jail on $200,000 bond, according to online jail records. An attorney is not listed.

Longtime resident John McDonald heard the police sirens and saw the patrol car lights flashing, but had no idea what all the commotion was about. "I just felt that a human life taken over a piece of chicken is ridiculous,” McDonald.
