Yenagoa - 10 governorship candidates have stepped down to declare support for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timipre Sylva in the December 5 governorship election in Bayelsa state.
The candidates of the 10 parties led by the All Progressives Grand Alliance's governorship candidate, Christopher Enai, announced their decision on Thursday when Sylva’s campaign train stormed Ekeremor, the local government area of the Minister of State (Agriculture), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri.
Enai, who spoke on behalf of the ten candidates, said Sylva was the best for the governorship post.
He, however, refused to give the names of the other parties’ candidates.
Their withdrawal from the race was accepted by the state APC Chairman, Tiwei Orunimighe.
This comes barely few days after the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the December 5 governorship election in Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva urged Governor Seriake Dickson to begin to pack his belongings and get ready to quit the Government House.
Sylva said the people of the state would vote out Dickson, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election, because of his anti-people policies and programmes, which he described as wicked and painful.
Sylva who spoke through his campaign outfit, Sylva-Igiri Campaign Organisation, alleged that Dickson has introduced unpopular policies to inflict pains on the citizens since he became governor in 2012.
He noted that Dickson had deliberately impoverished the people of the state by formulating a draconian policy with the introduction of multiple taxes.
