Judge bars journalists from covering Davido’s father’s Deji Adeleke divorce proceeding
Justice A. O. Oguntade, of the Osun State High Court in Ede, yesterday prevented newsmen from covering the divorce proceedings involving popular musician, Davido’s dad, Deji Adeleke and his estranged wife, Teju.
Adeleke, millionaire businessman, who doubles as the Chancellor of the Adeleke University was present in court during the proceedings on Thursday but the estranged wife was not.
Oguntade had on Thursday chased out journalists present in the courtroom before the proceedings started. The Judge on entering the court room said, “Journalists present in this court should go out. I repeat, journalists present in this court should go out now.”
Oguntade directed his orderly to escort the journalists out and the orderly relayed the order to the senior police officer, Adeoye Yekinin, who led a team of armed policemen deployed in the court for the divorce case.
The orderly while asking the journalists to vacate the court room was, however, polite in his action.
Reacting to the presence of the armed policemen, a lawyer who was present in the court for another matter said one of the parties involved did not want publicity.
It was learnt that counsel to Adeleke’s estranged wife, Mr. Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, during the first hearing on Monday had accused the judge of being biased.
